Who are you?

My name is Andreas Fässler. I was born on March 6, 1998, in Appenzell and grew up in Weissbad.

What do you love most about hiking in the Alpstein?

I love nature and the variety of the different trails. It’s especially nice to visit friends in the Alps along the way and just be outdoors.

Do you have a favorite hike?

Not really. It’s more about certain places I like to be—and there are many beautiful trails leading to them.

What does a perfect day of hiking look like to you?

I like to start the day early, preferably with a good breakfast or right at sunrise. Then I set out on my planned hike. In the afternoon, I like to be back in the valley or treat myself to a swim in a mountain lake. Satisfied and tired, I then head home.

What should guests bring when they go hiking with you?

Good hiking boots are essential. A lightweight rain jacket is also practical. It takes up little space and protects against wind and rain. Depending on the hike, a small snack and plenty to drink are also recommended.

What can our guests look forward to?

Join us for a varied and entertaining hike featuring exciting stories, the occasional encounter with locals, and everything that makes for a typical, down-to-earth Appenzell tour.

What do you do when you’re not out with guests?

I work in Appenzell as a photovoltaic system installer for the company Appenzeller Energiekonzept. In my free time, I often travel by car with a rooftop tent, go climbing in the Alpstein, or spend time outdoors with friends. I am also active in the Appenzell Fire Department and the Alpine Rescue Service of Eastern Switzerland.
