The garden was laid out according to Alfred Vogel’s philosophy and planned and designed by the Alfred Vogel Foundation. Surrounding a large, open space are 71 wooden beds of various shapes planted with around 80 varieties of herbs—from lavender and echinacea to golden balm and lemon balm. Tobacco and hemp plants also have their place as natural protection against pests. Two raised beds, a wild bee hotel, and fragrant rose and flower beds complete the natural ambiance.
The arrangement of the plants is important to us. Some get along very well, while others do not. The raised bed is particularly fascinating: brimming with nutrients, it allows the young vegetables to sprout from the soil.
The garden provides fresh herbs for seasoning and garnishing dishes, flowers and leaves for teas, ointments, and compresses, as well as nutritious vegetables and crisp salads.
