Since November 1, 1996, Head Chef Käthi Fässler has shaped the culinary identity of the Resort Hof Weissbad. With deep roots in her Appenzell homeland, she stands for a cuisine that combines regional ingredients, seasonality, artisanal precision, and creative sophistication.


To celebrate her 30th anniversary, a specially designed “Gourmet Menu Surprise” will be offered from May 21 to December 19, 2026. Each course bears Käthi’s unmistakable signature and tells a piece of her story.


Since 2008, the Resort Hof Weissbad has consistently held 16 GaultMillau points.



Now her many years of work are once again being recognized nationally: Käthi Fässler was named Chef of the Year 2026/27 in the Andrin Willi Hotel Rating.

Down-to-earth, consistent, and with a subtle sense of humor.

As early as 2008/09, the Appenzell native was awarded the title “Chef of the Year 2009” by GaultMillau and has held 16 GaultMillau points continuously ever since—an impressive testament to sustained excellence in the Swiss hospitality and gastronomy industry. Despite national recognition, Käthi Fässler shuns the spotlight. She sees herself as a hostess from the kitchen and prefers to stay where her heart lies: at the stove, in the midst of the team, close to the ingredients and to quality.


A cuisine with character and heritage.

Käthi Fässler leads a team of around 35 employees. Under her leadership, over 450 dishes are prepared daily—ranging from breakfast to the daily-changing lunch and half-board menus, seminar buffets, and bistro dishes, all the way to gourmet menus, banquets, and special events. The kitchen is staffed from early morning until late evening and is renowned for an exceptional variety of dishes maintained at a consistently high standard.

Enjoy a truly special gourmet journey at the beautiful Flickflauder Restaurant.


The centerpiece is a 6-course “Surprise” gourmet menu, each course of which showcases a facet of Käthi Fässler’s culinary philosophy over the past 30 years. The menu is also available in a vegetarian version and is served as a set course. Individual adjustments are therefore only possible to a limited extent.


The Surprise gourmet menu is available for booking on Tuesdays as well as Thursdays through Saturdays.


For a particularly atmospheric experience, we recommend arriving early: From 5:40 to 6:00 p.m., Käthi Fässler will welcome you personally and set the tone for a stylish evening.
